Ponmudi is connected to Trivandrum by a narrow winding road offering scenic views on the way to Ponmudi. The climate is pleasant year-round. Ponmudi serves as a base for trekking and hiking. PONMUDI HILLSTATION – Situated at around a distance of 60 km from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram and at an altitude of 1000 m above sea level on the Western Ghats, Ponmudi is a small, peaceful hill station in Kerala, South India. True to its name, which translates to “Golden Crown” in Malayalam, Ponmudi offers an unforgettable escape from the monotony of a busy life.
Ponmudi, lying very close to the sea, offers a plethora of tourist destinations and activities that the people visiting this place can indulge themselves in. an ideal place for nature lovers, this hill station attracts people from all over the country to come and explore this untouched virgin natural beauty. Long walks while birdwatching with crystal waterfalls in the background, one explores the rubber, tea, cardamom, and spice plantations.
MEENMUTTY WATERFALLS – is located 45 km from Trivandrum city in the Thiruvananthapuram District in the state of Kerala, India. This waterfall is located near the Neyyar reservoir area. No transportation is available to the falls. The visitor has to trek through the dense forests to reach the falls. The Kombaikani waterfalls are also near Meenmutti. It is 2 km upstream from the Meenmutti Falls. This waterfall is on the trek path to Agastyakoodam. There is a forest rest house near the falls. To visit the falls, permission from the forest department is required. A guide is sent along with you to the falls.
RUBBER/COFFEE PLANTATIONS. A perfect panorama of plantations—tea, coffee, pepper, rubber, and cocoa.
Tea estates around Ponmudi. Introduced by the British, these vast tea plantations make a sightseeing tour all the more exciting. Also visit the tea factories and collect a variety of tea.
